The Midwest Shippers’ Association (MSA) was created through an appropriation by the Minnesota Legislature. This unique public/private partnership is designed to promote and facilitate direct sales of Midwest agricultural commodities from Midwest producers to end-users, both domestic and international. The MSA is organized as a membership cooperative and is governed by the members of the cooperative elected to the Board of Directors. The membership consists of producers, country grain elevators, state agencies, commodity groups and a variety of other agricultural interests. In particular, the MSA will assist small and medium sized producers and handlers by providing services that increase negotiating power and provide quality transportation services at a lower cost than is available to an individual shipper. The MSA has identified domestic and global markets and has developed a logistical and financial network which enables Midwest producers and suppliers to effectively and efficiently sell directly to end-users. The MSA assists members in managing the risks generally associated with direct trade.
